This is full of personality and very much like chanel fragrances. Is. I honestly didn't get that but I did get lily-of-the-valley, lily-of-the-valley and more lily-of-the-valley so much so that I could not smell anything else...It really is possible to overdose on this stuff !! Diorissimo is not a citrus based fragrance, but the Lily of the valley and jasmine are so fresh, that one could be forgiven for mistaking the floral explosion for a burst of freshness straight from an orchard. This truly is spring in a bottle. I like JM but I love Diorissimo!! The sandalwood helps as well in adding depth and warmth. Maybe it's hard to come by the real deal, I do remember someone else commenting that Diorissimo faded quickly when exposed to light so maybe the fanfare had expired in my little bottle. Lily of the valley tends to be treated lightly and gently,all spring innocence, but it is a white floral at the end of the day and this perfume allows it to be a true white floral powerhouse, just like a jasmine or tuberose. I got a sample of the EDP and, as hopeful as I was that this would be better than my current sig frag (JMC, JMC) it is not as good. Best kept from too much light, there is something in there, possibly an aldehyde, that really reacts and goes dark, but I've been lucky in that even the dark juice still smells incredible. I discovered Diorissimo on my workplace, since we have plenty of testers that we spray around the rooms when the air isn't fresh enough. I have been wearing this for 45 years and it was my first real perfume, Sweet Honesty not counting. Gorgeous. The green notes, lily of the valley, jasmine, and herbs are so fresh and clean, almost like a chypre fragrance. The green notes and jasmine make themselves known, but take nothing away from the main scent. After the opening citrus it's almost purely LOTV. Imagine taking a plunge into a fresh clean lake on a beautiful warm spring/summer day,& you look up through the clear water as you surface to the top,& the sunlight glinting of the water as you do so!! It does become a little soapy in the dry down,but I love soapy. I wished I could bottle that scent… Diorissimo comes closest: the lily of the valley dominates here, but it’s not the only flower, I get lilac, bit of jasmine, green leafs and stems, still dewy. Diorissimo was the perfume that has made me involved with fragrances since I was a 3 year-old child. No movies for me. If I wear a coconut soap, however, that note lasts much less and the lily comes out eventually, but is very subtle and doesn't last very long. I had read so many glowing reviews about this fragrance that I really, really, REALLY wanted to love it but one spray on my wrist and I couldn't wait to wash it off! and it started to smell horrible. I have EDP purchased in 1999, it lasts good 7 hours and dries into a bit of civet (detectable, but not overwhelmingly animalic) with little to none sandalwood and just a memory of white flowers. Coty's "Muguet De Bois" was my first muguet floral, back in high school in the late 60's, and while it was rather loud and uncomplicated compared to this Dior classic, it was affordable and youthful.
